Kanarra Creek Trail 2017

This hike was recommended by some friends and WOW. This fulfilled all our slot canyon dreams! This little gem is growing in popularity, so I'm glad we got to see it before it got too busy.
A majority of the hike is just alongside the creek, the actual slot canyon is pretty short. It was refreshing seeing so much greenery after only seeing red rocks and desert for so long!

The closer we got to the canyon the more we saw little previews of the slot!

Aaaaand we made it! We passed quite a few people on our way in so we were shocked to find that we were the ONLY people there for a good 15 minutes! It made for some great photos.

Inside the slot canyon is a waterfall, and there's a ladder there to help you climb to the top of it!

I love that we don't hesitate to experience things because we have a baby. James is the best adventure buddy. He goes with the flow so well and loves being outside. I feel like most people avoid things like this (and Angel's Landing) because of the hassle it can be, but to us, it's worth it! And now seems like a good time to share a photo of McKay climbing a rocking, unstable, ladder with James strapped to him. haha.

After this waterfall, you can continue on further along the creek and you'll come to a second waterfall, after which there there is a natural slide. The second waterfall's ladder is broken, so I checked it out to see if we could continue on. Even I thought it was a bit risky to maneuver up and down so we decided to call it good. We turned back towards the first waterfall with the ladder and were shocked to see a line of like 20 people!! Remember when I said we passed a lot of people on our way in? Well it looks like we got to the slot at the perfect time because it was packed just before and getting super crowded as we left.

I totally plan on coming back and doing this hike again when we have a bigger family, I think it was such a blast!
