Utah Visit

While we were mapping out our travel plans for the Coffey Family Reunion in Texas, we realized that it would only cost $200 more for the both of us to fly Portland -> Austin -> Salt Lake City -> Portland. So, rather than just a round trip between Portland and Austin, we added a stop in Salt Lake City to our plans. This meant that we could knock two trips out at once!
After an amazing reunion in Texas with McKay's side, McKay, Kristi (who happened to be on the same flight pattern as us), and I headed off to Utah for a  visit with our friends and family (my side) that live there. Little did we know what craziness was in store for us... Bear with me!
We had completed the first leg of our flights and were in Phoenix awaiting our next flight. Because of a storm in Vegas, our flights were delayed several hours then ultimately cancelled. THOUSANDS of people were frantically trying to reschedule their flights and get to where they needed to go. Those poor airport employees. The next available flight to get to SLC wasn't until Saturday. Let me repeat that, SATURDAY. It was Thursday afternoon at the time! Which meant a 2 day stay in the Phoenix airport! Did I mention that I am over 8 months pregnant?? I was beyond upset!

BUT. Don't worry, thankfully I have a spectacular husband who kept his cool throughout this entire ordeal. And because he kept his mind clear and calm, he was able to come up with a brilliant alternative! Rather than wait two days (which would leave us with less than 24 hours in Utah) He proposed we rent a car, and drive the 10 hours up to SLC. We wasted no time!! Within the hour we hit the road in our cute little Ford Focus. We drove through the night (once again I gotta mention how amazing McKay is, he drove 7 of the 10 hours) and arrived at the SLC Airport at 6am.
WHEW.
It's like we were in a movie or something. What a crazy day!

Kristi was able to catch a shuttle up to her final destination, Rexburg, and we were picked up by Cameron and slept all that morning to recover. haha. Also, my feet. Holy cow!! I could feel that they were swollen, but I didn't expect them to be so bad. driving 10 hours at 8 months pregnant isn't the best, but it sure beat waiting around at an airport for two days.

Thankfully, the rest of our trip wasn't nearly as hectic. While in Utah we went swimming, got to see family as well as our good friends Sarah, Spencer, Meg, and Dan, enjoyed watching Finding Dory at a drive in movie theater, got some much needed Cafe Rio (I've been craving it for this entire pregnancy), had a blast with some sparklers, got to attend our old ward, and I got to see Becca!

It was so great seeing Becca. Our babies are due a week apart! We had to snap some photos because we don't think being pregnant at the same time will ever happen again!
